Columbia Artists celebrates the Bel Canto Trio's 70th anniversary with a tour featuring today's internationally acclaimed rising opera stars: soprano JULIE ADAMS, tenor JOSHUA GUERRERO, and bass-baritone NICHOLAS BROWNLEE with music director CHRISTOPHER ALLEN. The trio performs the original program that toured the United States in the 1947/1948 season with some of operas greatest arias, duets and trios from Rigoletto, Faust, I lombardi, La traviata, Manon Lescaut, La bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia and many others.
Over a ten-month period from July 1947 to May 1948, Mario Lanza, George London, and Frances Yeend toured for Columbia Artists Management as the Bel Canto Trio, singing throughout the United States and at selected theaters in Canada and Mexico. The trio's demanding repertoire throughout the tour proved extremely popular with audiences and critics alike, and it was at this time that Lanza's career was launched into stardom. Columbia Artists is proud to present the next generation of American opera singers in this tour.
